City Council Campaign to Begin
As reported in the U.T., Tommy has entered the race for San Diego City Council Dist. 6, including Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, Mira Mesa, Miramar, Park Village and Sorrento Valley. A website reboot is underway now.
Speaking at the CA-50 Townhall
Tommy spoke on the environmental impacts of the current administration and Congress, as well as Duncan Hunter's support of those measures at the CA-50 Empty Chair Townhall at Cuyamaca College.
Enviro. Dems. Third Anniversary
Capping off another successful year, San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action celebrated its third anniversary in September, featuring deserving honorees and special guests.
Honored by S.D. Sierra Club Chapter
Tommy was honored by the San Diego Sierra Club with the chapter's annual Fantastic Environmental Achievement Taken (FEAT) Award in recognition for his environmental efforts in San Diego.
Community Leader and Advocate
A media personality, environmentalist and non-profit specialist who loves the outdoors, Tommy previously managed media relations and communications for the San Diego Surfrider chapter and Oregon Wild, and as a club president and elected ADEM delegate continues to lead on issues like expanding parks and open space, re-building broken roads, making streets more pedestrian and bicycle friendly, citywide "no waste" food composting, retaining jobs, fiscal responsibility and sensible wildfire policy.
President of San Diego Co. Dems. for Environmental Action
As president of San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action, Tommy has led the club to become one of the largest in the county party, and has taken stands against SDGE efforts to subvert community choice energy (CCE), called for greater transparency of state regulatory agencies, and as a member of the Quality of Life Coalition spoke out against Measures A and B on the 2016 ballot and the Soccer City initiative that would bypass CEQA. Tommy serves as an alternate on the San Diego County Democratic Party Central Committee.
San Diego Radio and Media Personality
With appearances on Fox 5, CW6, Tonight In San Diego, 600 KOGO and 760 KFMB, Tommy most recently served as morning host at San Diego's legendary 91X, and spent 10 years on the air at FM 94/9 as part of that station's original airstaff. Best known for his Almanac, Resurrection Daily and Tommy Trending features on 91X, Tommy also helmed weekly features like Beer for Breakfast that spotlight the local San Diego craft beer scene, and has been the host of the long-running Sunday morning Brunch With Bob and Friends show since 2004.
