For a complete list of my 2018 general election endorsements, please visit my Endorsements page.
With your help, I will continue to:
- Advocate for women's health and ongoing access to reproductive health services.
- Advocate for Medicare for all, or an equivalent heath insurance option for all Californians.
- Advocate for an end to raids by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that selectively target neighborhoods and worksites, enter people's homes without proper warrants or consent, and coerce individuals to submit to interrogations about citizenship and immigration status without making them aware of their legal options.
- Promote transparency of state agencies tasked with enforcing environmental law, like the California Coastal Commission and Air Resources Board.
- Promote adoption of "zero waste" food composting services by city and local governments.
- Work with elected officials, San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action, the Sierra Club and other organizations to close the loophole that enables developers to put development schemes on the ballot as land use measures in order to dodge California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) adherence.
- Work to prevent a sand mine from being built along the San Diego River in the El Monte Valley in Lakeside.
- Work to prevent the Trump-backed Cadiz project from moving forward, which would include the pillaging of a natural aquifer beneath Mojave Trails National Monument.
- Work to counter Trump administration attempts to destabilize our state's economy and electoral integrity.
- Advocate for smart urban growth, including increased housing utilizing responsible density with abundant public transportation options.
- Advocate for preservation of the county's remaining open space so native plant and animal communities have breathing space to recover from fire, and ensure wildlife corridors are preserved in and around urban centers.
- Advocate for employers to allow employees to work from home two or three days out of the week, in order cut back on automobile use and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Oppose any attempt to shrink or reduce the boundaries of National Monuments within the state of California, any attempt to re-introduce old-growth logging on federal lands within the state, or any attempt to renew mining or natural gas exploration in protected areas.
- Advocate for development of a countywide regional wildfire protection system, with a focus on the entire fire risk equation, not wanton destruction of native plant communities in the backcountry.
- Work to ensure fracking operators in California are required to go beyond EPA requirements and reveal the specific contents of fracking materials – and reveal the amount of fresh water used in order to produce one barrel of oil from fracking.
- Advocate for an aggressive litter pickup effort in all of our communities – especially the city of San Diego. As a basic level of civic pride, litter and trash have no place along our streets and freeways or in our parks.
- Advocate for full funding to address deferred maintenance at California State Parks and historic sites.
